Aquiculture Winter Project
« on: October 10, 2013, 09:56:25 PM »
I was hoping someone would post here to offer a little inspiration. I am a long time gardener and we are always experimenting which what can be grown indoors. For many years I have kept fish both indoor and out. I have a number of tanks and have had many varieties of fish. So I was thinking why not merge the two hobbies and dive into aquiculture. Now this is a topic that I know nothing about so I have taken the plunge and purchased a book and some videos.  So far it seams frighteningly simple. Also with the videos that I purchased it illustrates how you can get started for around $100 or so.

So far I am only at the reading and watching stage. Soon to the construction phase and I already have the consent of my wife to use the big bay window next to one of my large tanks. The window is full of plants but not the edible types and some solar. I have an independent solar backup (panels batteries and inverters) for may tanks filters and air pumps. I know, I know but the hydro does go out a lot here.

As I progress I will keep you all posted. Wish me luck.
It may never happen. Best to be prepared just in case.
