Indestructible Tires?
« on: September 02, 2013, 09:57:38 PM »
Hey everyone

So you're in your bug out vehicle that you have spent countless hours modifying, stocking, fixing.

A shtf scenario has occurred. Lets say economic collapse. People are starting to scramble to the grocery store, you figure that by tomorrow there wont be much food left on the shelves. Also, power outages are rampant.

So you've decided its time to bug out from your home to your BOL. Or, I you live at a well secured BOL already that is far from cities, lets say you and your group are forced to retreat to your secondary BOL (lets say the woods are your secondary BOL as of right now) because you are being overrun by the biggest gang of looters yet.

So you've hopped in your BOV and off you go. the bad guys start shooting at the tires, of course. 1 person in your group has been fatally shot and they are continuing to let the bullets fly. Everyone grabs their BOBs and runs for the hills. 1 other person of your group has now been shot in the arm.

sooo...how would one make indestructible tires to prevent the BOV from becoming useless within a minute?

fill them with stryofoam? rubber?...?  :)

There are a few options for filling the tires of course and they are all expensive.
There are a few self sealing fillers on the market, they will work there are also much tougher tires to put on vehicles which will assist as well.

Best way is to see them coming first and make them pay at longer range, that would mean your group is big enough to have sentries out, if it is not big enough for this, well...........

If you do some internet research you should be able to find airless tires. They are very cool. They are solid rubber, have an inner and outer that are supported by fine semi-flexible rubber spokes. They are making these for expensive, high end sports cars but the tire design lends itself well for working in hostile environments, too.

MM.

Try looking into this at;
Canadian Tire
Parts Store
Local Tire experts chain stores
Commercial Truck Tire stores/repair shops
(there is some stuff that you can use that they fill up backhoes and bobcats with)

By the looks of them they are probably lighter to handle than normal or solid tires, which would make it easier to handle for us worn out old farts( and little ladies too...LOL) I will look into purchasing availability and pricing.

How's that for helping out?...Ha Ha back...LMAO
