Homemade Laundry Detergent & Fels Naptha Soap
« on: September 02, 2013, 09:57:31 PM »
Curious to see if any one has heard of Fels Naptha soap & if so, where can I find it? Gone to 2 separate towns and searched everywhere for it with no luck. The recipe that calls for this ingredient is very specific. Must have this particular brand or recipe will not work the way it should.  Anyone? Thanks  :)

Kelee had posted a response to me with an alternative in the first few posts, after she laughed at me for misunderstanding which type of Naptha..

Yeah, I read that & must admit I laughed a little. However, I did try using a different brand of soap and I now have a couple of nice smelling bricks of laundry soap. Obviously didn't work. lol     Would really like to find it.

In the laundry isle is a bar of soap in Canada called Linda laundry soap yellow in color about 1.19 a bar thats what I use

and ps nobswife..hold on to those bricks..I have a bunch of trail and error bricks..going to break a chunk off today bring down one of my huge canning pots and I am going to boil my bathroom face clothes in it..then throw them through the wash...just cause they need a good cleaning...I use cold water for all my other wash and today I want to give the clothes a real good soak..

I would still try your grocery store for the linda bars..then you can buy a couple and try making the laundry soap

thats a lot of money in one feel swoop

Have tried Health Food stores, IGA, Co-op, general stores, etc., nobody seems to carry laundry bar soap. Maybe its because I'm living in a small town surrounded by small towns! lol My local general store will order in the Sunlight, but because its a special item they can only get in a case. Kinda sucks. :-[

I recently posted (today). a recipe for the soap and I beleive she states that some substitutes are not very stable.. they build gas in the jars and are known to burst.
kinda like my first tiome brewing beer.. several decades ago.. the glass btls exploded and when I went into the room it had a nice smell but a frothing mess on the floor.
you have no idea how hard it is to suck beer thru a straw with a sponge on the end. musta laid on that floor for days. finally got-er-dun.. I think..  :P
of all the things I,ve lost.. I miss my mind, the most

I have 2 bars of sunlight soap that I was going to try. I was in Houston Tx this past week and ran across the fels naptha so I bought 4 bars. Eventually I will make my own bar soap out of pig lard and lye and that should also do the trick as well if I ever get around to it.

Try the soap section of the bulk barn; they sell bars of laundry soap that might work.

WTG..Looks just like it should and it is so easy to make..try it on your kitchen cupboards to get rid of the greases that collect especially over the stove..I was amazed how it cleaned..and you can use it on pots and pans...you will have a blast

Did you ever find the bars where you are? and if not just pm me if you need more bars...
