Now while this is describing and HEMP not a natural one the effects discussed are accurate for the most part. The discussion on nuclear power stations might play out differently depending on the type of reactor. It is sobering to think that our "civilized" western societies are so vulnerable. 
It may never happen. Best to be prepared just in case.

A lot of folks don't prep for EMP/HEMP events.  I don't understand that.  If you're going to stock a few radios, batteries, etc... on the shelf, why not put them in cookie tins with some padding between the tin and the contents?  It might not be practical to try and protect bigger things, but the small stuff is a no-brainer!
