fell from the sky
« on: August 23, 2013, 09:00:52 PM »
and landed here.. ty kelee. northern ont here, also.. live without running water and tv but do lots of food prep and, this summer, built an outdoor wood fired clay oven.. learning the ropes on that as we speak. heat with wood only and spent the first 2 yrs without hydro. rustic is more than a state of mind. the chickens eat my mistakes as I learn to cook outside. next spring will have a cpl pigs. I forage from nature as well as from humanity.
great to be here.

Hello and Welcome Zeker,
you kinda sound like me, I live without hydro, no TV as well, by choice. Learning Wild Edibles myself, but it is hard so many look similar.
As for the outdoor oven, all I can say is awesome and use cast iron Dutch Ovens and other cast iron pots and pans they are awesome.

thanx for all the welcomes. kel.. give me a heads up I got another acse of TP 4u and some blueberry jam.

wild e. trying to learn the wild foods also. the sz of the door opening dictates the vessels i can use in the oven. I have a huge cast iron dutch oven but the doorway is 11" so for now I have been using porcelain. looking for any type of heavy container. usually sposed to cook the bread and pizza on the floor of the oven but I messed up on the insulation of the bed, or, I aint mastered the intricasies yet.. prolly both.  have cooked bread, pizza, pot roast chicken.
