Hi all!
« on: August 20, 2013, 03:05:48 PM »
Wild E has been after me for a bit to pop in an say "Hi".

As a Y2K inductee, I have been prepping for more than a decade.  I am a homeschooling parent of Monkey, a special needs kid going into grade 3 (pray for me!) and we live with my father, The Great Lake.  Multi-generational households are a the best and make for some interesting prepping challenges.  We are in the midst of moving from the edge of the GTA where our farm has been holding back suburbia to the east coast.  I look forward to learning to can cod, lobster and moose.

I look forward to chatting with you all.

Hi Lake Lili,
I'm glad you've joined us!  I'm sure it's sad that you're moving, but I can just imagine what a difference in land prices there would be between the GTA and out east!  You could probably buy a whole village out there!
I would absolutely love to relocate out of Ontario!

Oh calm down E!  Go read my homeschooling post...

I've been going thru boxes from the last move and tossing what we don't need.  I haven't been out of the drive shed in a week - TG for summer camp!  We aren't aiming for minimalism but we'd like to keep the book boxes to under 200, not including school books.  And... well... as for the pantry... the new rule is that if it hasn't been consumed in the last two moves its never going to get eaten.  Did I tell you the Monkey and The Great Lake have decided that no matter what else is in it, death is preferable to bean soup...

I'm on the east coast, Lili. What area are you planning to re-locate to?  (oh dear, my old English teacher would be annoyed at that preposition at the end of the sentence), so I'll fix it right now... To what area of the east coast are you re-locating?  There, that's better.

I work with special needs children in the education system, and have a grandson who deals with Asperger's...what a great teen he is!

Hi Lake Lili. You are in the best spot for canning moose. I carry my brother moose hunting every year, but we never got one yet (N Ont). I may have to can him before I can get a moose. Of course, it would take a lot of cans.
Welcome.
