Prepper Two Way Radios
« on: March 18, 2014, 02:59:56 PM »
How many of you are familiar with the efforts of Bruce Beach and others to develop a cheap easy to use robust prepper two way radio to be used for communications in a disaster situation? I think that is a great idea and it is something that could be of use to many preppers. Bruce is a great guy who has dedicated much of his free time to prepping, not just personal prepping but more from the viewpoint of helping other in times of societal collapse.

It looks interesting but I am not sure how it can be used with the 'net' and computers without compromising opsec and staying anonymous... ? I also will ask... if it is transmitting a 'power spike' straight up... cannot a satellite detect that burst? Just questions...
THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS... ONLY OPPORTUNITIES FOR SOLUTIONS

LP I just tried the link and it worked ok. If you still have trouble I will find another way for you to access the information.

Attached is the basic idea of the prepper radio. Just click on the jpeg to make it larger and readable.

I think the London group has enough supporters to go for the 4 station network option.  Lets make sure we don't buy individually.  We want to get the 1/2 hour consultation to help us set this up right.

This is a project in the making and I am not sure what has happened to Bruce's Kickstarter efforts. However I believe the design has been completed and perfected. I will try to get a little more information on the current status of the project.

I have sent an email and as soon as I know the status I will post pit here. While it is true that you do not need a licence to listen to transmit you will. Using PSK31 on the 20m band requires a general class HAM licence which is the next step up from the entry level technician class. It has be kept in mind that you can practice anytime with the free software and in the case of a real emergency a licence is not required.

I have known of and have been a follower of Mr Beach for over 15 years. I've studied the plans of the Arc II, the accomplishments and the trials that the Government has put this good man through. To me this man is a Hero, and he has the battle scares to prove it. Any one who is interested should do a study of this interesting and Intelegent man. I have never met him, but I have corrisponded with him a few times.
I would also like to credit the oganizers of this meet, they have done more than I could ever, to help share the knowledge that would be a great  asset to you in a catastrophic even. Kodo's Gents, Kodo's.
