Another alternative, which I"m surprised no one has brought up, is fine sand. You"ll actually find in other countries, Nepal, Indonesia, Turkey, that it's use has been widespread for centuries. Just wash your hands and...other parts after.

Reminds me of my days as a boy on the beach. No thanks, I`ll stick to good old paper, cloth or leaves If I have to.
It may never happen. Best to be prepared just in case.

Good thing in Canada we are far more likely to find leaves than sand.  Just better know your plants or you might pick the wrong leaf  :o .

Where I work, they throw out the part rolls of toilet paper. I ask the cleaner to save them for me, and I take a box home every month. I have a fair bit saved up, I share it with the neighbours too, and drop some off to good will.

I tried using grass a few times but the neighbours would complain every time I went out to drag my ass across the lawn.

When the toilet paper runs out it is the time for the microfiber and a garden hose to make their appearance. If not then the cat has a new use.

You can always use a wet cloth, then rinse later

I don't think I'd be comfortable with the rodent-floss...
Romans used to use a sponge on a stick with a bucket of water. I don't recommend sharing it with the whole town, like they did, but you should be able to get a bit of mileage out of one of those back scrubbers that those softer and prettier humans use.
Take care to wash it between uses and try not to let it get confused with the shower sponge!
Might be easier to store a few gross of sponge that last a while and sticks tend to be easy enough to come by, outside of the city.

Although not a lot of wild sponges around here, there is an abundance of water falling and just hanging out. One could follow the French lead and built a bidet out of either a foot pumped bladder and a length of hose or one of those $9 bag showers dangling from the toilet tree. Perfect for grey-water.
Not keen on pressure washing my crevices, but it would make you walk less like a drunken sailor afterwards, than the sand-in-hand method.
“The enemy is anybody who's going to get you killed, no matter which side he is on.”
