Good resource, I have used many of them. In addition to #2. A paste made out of ash and water, can remove stains from furniture. My father used to use the paste on newspaper to clean the glass on the stove. It is very effective.
It may never happen. Best to be prepared just in case.

it is also very  effective for ridding your property of elephants..
 
dig a hole (big hole)
 
place peas around outter edge of hole
 
 place a small layer of ash in the hole
 
when elephant comes to take a pea, kick him in n the ash hole
