Hello Doersall here
« on: October 11, 2015, 11:50:01 AM »
Now that I know where I may be .......... don't you just hate that "where the fagarewe" feeling.

I have been wondering around the forum for a while.

I am in SE Ontario.  I feel like I have always been pepping for something.  Over the last 3 years however it has taken on a new meaning.  I like doing research.  But it has to be grounded in being meaningful, beneficial and purposeful to my wellness.

I have learned a few things that puts me clearly on a straight building path.  One was that being prepared is a way you live .......... a lifestyle.  You have to be sustainable now and under any conditions that may arise in the future.  Two, you have to have community and the more diverse that community the better.  Which appears to fly in the face of the "like-minded" mind set.  If all you have however is like-mind people around than you would be living in a fools paradise.  At the same time you do need enough commonalities of thought to organize efforts toward meeting common needs and setting common goals.  Most of this is really easy, fun and somewhat natural ......... BUT ....... it deflates rather quickly when the subject of security is introduced.  This is where I am at in my community building research process.  The word "research" as I am using here means, using the process of research as the means of establishing what is needed.

All of this verbal diarrhea is to get to a point of saying that One interest I have for this forum is to find people in my area who have already arrived at this point in
their preps.

Quite the introduction:  We are a family of five.  I am versed in bush crafts, combat harms, sewing, cooking/baking, wood working, mental working and general small scale mixed farming stuff.  I started my forge a few weeks ago :) 8) .  I will even do windows but they are a pain.

Hi Kelee877,

I was just looking at your website.  How did you know?

Yes I am writing some short stories,  A long way from publishing yet but am planning.

We have been looking at a move north in our mid future as well.

Welcome! Unsure if I have made it to this point in my preps as you put it, as we all prep a bit differently I imagine. However I am in the Kawartha region which may or may not be relatively close to your SE Ontario.

Hi Malark21,

I used to live in your neck of the woods.  We lived on a farm. I milked 30 goats twice a day and made a variety of cheeses ................... until the government put their boot on our necks.

I have interviewed hundreds of people over the last 3 years and set up some planned and impromptu discussions (SWOT) on the state of the world and how to respond.  Everybody was difference.  I asked, " Without giving up much or anything how can we build cohesion and interdependency now, for the hard times which may be coming".

I am guessing you would have enjoyed these processes.

We are about two or so hours from you.  Would you like to setup a meet some where in between?

Welcome to the forum!  I am in Southwestern ON, so not too close to you.  There are a few of us around this neck of the woods.  Shout out if you need help with anything and looking forward to learning from your experience!
