Maybe THE Biggest Question for preppers
« on: March 21, 2014, 12:01:58 AM »
I am going to pose what might just turn out to be THE biggest question for us prepper types....

Who here believes that our preps will only get us so far, and that.... at some point..... we will need God?

Government take over/famine/nuclear detonation/Revelation prophecies coming true (war, famine, pestilence, pandemics, not being able to buy or sell for those who refuse the Mark of the Beast, etc..)

For those of you that don't know  :) , so that you understand a teeny bit from where I am coming from....I am not a bible thumping person :) I am spiritual, not religious, and am on a spiritual journey :)

Now there is a loaded question. :)   Actually I think that if anyone thinks that their preps alone will get them through any catastrophic SHTF situation they are delusional. To keep going and get through it all, to master all the misfortunes that undoubtedly will be strewn across your path you will need faith. Not necessarily faith in God but faith in something or someone beyond oneself. When something occurs that we overcome insurmountable odds or dodge the proverbial bullet some might call it random chance acting in our favour while others might call it divine intervention. Which is correct? It certainly is not up to me to say and it depends on your point of view which, incidentally, may change after the experience. All I can say is that one point of view has significant meaning to those of faith.  Meaning that could be draw upon in future times. For the other point of view is just a chance outcome for an event that could have gone one or two ways.
It may never happen. Best to be prepared just in case.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts  :))
Yes, like you say, belief in something... that things will get better, that a higher power than ourselves will protect us; whatever that might be, that our children will have chance at a decent life, etc............
The support that our partners and friends give us is sooo precious and means everything  :)
interested to hear what everyone else has to say!

I completely agree that our physical preps will only take us so far.  I have written before that skills will be more important and survival depends on those.  However, having faith in something is also important.  It gives us hope and helps us feel as though we aren't alone.  I too lean on a higher power.  I am pagan, honour both God and Goddess, and the cycles of nature.  Just last night, my girls and I performed a ritual to welcome spring.  I know I will find great comfort in the cycles of the seasons and of nature when the SHTF, that there is something far greater than us and that Mother Earth keeps going on, despite us.

I absolutely agree that faith is important, but only when it is combined with a proper attitude.   I believe in God, heaven and hell.  That belief is part of the moral compass that helps guide my decisions and actions through life.  I don't believe that it's God's job to get me out of a jam, or save me from myself.  It's my job to be prepared, and his job to show me how to live a good life and welcome me in the hereafter when the time comes.

I just hardly ever hear God or other important belief or belief system mentioned on this site, so that's why I posed the question :)

I find in this forum I like to focus on the information I am able to receive and also give...sometimes when you bring religion in to the fold it gets yucky...and there is the one or two that is all they post...I am sure when the time comes we will see more about God being mentioned

I am sure you are right Kelee. It is surprising how people turn to God when they are faced with conditions over which they have no control and need help. Not so popular in good times but very popular in times of stress.

Whats most important: is as an individual that you keep God in your heart, when you prep you are thankful for all you receive, if you come across news that pertains to Bible scripture is to always remember let scripture line up with the news, not news line up with scripture...and to know that everything you have done and said is right by God...

Peace of Mind
